¹ A psalm of Asaph.
 
God, nations have come in Your inheritance;
defiled Your holy Palace;
put Yerushalayim to the jackals.
² They have given Your servants’ corpses as food to the carrion-birds;
the flesh of Your pious ones to the earth’s beasts.
³ They have spilled their blood like water;
all around Yerushalayim, unburied.

⁴ We have become shameful to our neighbors;
a laughingstock and punchline to those around us.
⁵ How much longer, CAUSE, will You abandon us always!?
Your zeal burns like fire.
⁶ Spill Your wrath on the nations that do not know You;
and on the kingdoms that do not call Your Name.
⁷ For they have consumed Ya’aqov,
and made desolate his abode.

⁸ Don’t remember us for our old iniquities;
quickly bring Your compassion to us for we are very low.
⁹ Help us, God of our salvation, on account of the glory of Your name,
and save us and atone our sins for Your name’s sake.

¹⁰ Why do the nations say “Where is their god?”
Let it be known among the nations before Your eyes
that the spilled blood of Your servants is avenged.
¹⁰ May the prisoners’ groans come before You;
as per Your mighty arm redeem the death-bound.
¹² And return upon our neighbors’ laps
seven times the shame with which they shamed the Lord.

¹³ And as for us, Your people and the flock You shepherd,
we will thank You forever,
from generation to generation we will tell Your praise.
